EXPLANATION
BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
OF
A N A C T
RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- WEAPONS
***
1
This act would eliminate the provision that out-of-state persons with a concealed carry
2
permit could apply to the licensing authority of any city or town for a concealed carry permit. This
3
act would also require Rhode Island residents (regardless of whether they possess an out-of-state
4
permit) when applying for a concealed carry permit from a local authority/police chief, to apply to
5
the town where the resident has a bona fide residence or place of business.
6
This act would take effect upon passage.
