WHEREAS, The Society for Advancement of Management (SAM), founded in 1912, has

for more than a century advanced the principles and practice of management through education,
3
scholarship, and professional development; and
4
WHEREAS, The Society for Advancement of Management will bring the 2026 81st
5
Annual International Business Conference to the State of Rhode Island, hosted by the New
6
England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich from March 16 through March 21, 2026; and
7
WHEREAS, This conference will provide scholars, practitioners, and students an
8
opportunity to share research, innovation, and best practices in management and organizational
9
leadership; and
10
WHEREAS, The presence of this international conference is expected to enhance Rhode
11
Island’s reputation for academic excellence, professional development, and organizational
12
leadership; and
13
WHEREAS, Shelby Perry, serving as one of the 2026 Conference Chair, has
14
demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication in planning, organizing, and
15
coordinating this important event; and
16
WHEREAS, Through her tireless efforts, Shelby Perry has ensured that the conference
17
will facilitate meaningful collaboration among scholars, practitioners, and students, highlight
18
Rhode Island as a center for academic and professional excellence, and set a high standard for
19
future conferences; and

WHEREAS, Shelby Perry’s professionalism, creativity, and commitment to the
2
management profession exemplify outstanding service and bring distinction to the State of Rhode
3
Island; now, therefore be it
4
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
5
commends the Society for Advancement of Management and the New England Institute of
6
Technology for bringing the 2026 81st Annual International Business Conference to Rhode
7
Island, and extends best wishes for a successful and impactful conference; and be it further
8
RESOLVED, That this House furthermore recognizes and commends Shelby Perry for
9
her exemplary leadership, vision, and dedicated service in planning, coordinating, and ensuring
10
the success of the 2026 Society for Advancement of Management International Business
11
Conference; and be it further
12
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
13
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Society for Advancement of Management
14
(SAM), the New England Institute of Technology, and Shelby Perry.
