H8356 2026 -- H 8356 ======== LC004441 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N DECLARING MARCH 27, 2026, TO BE "GOOD FOOD POLICY DAY" IN RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Representatives Speakman, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, Boylan, Donovan, Kennedy, Tanzi, Solomon, and Ajello Date Introduced: March 26, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, Good Food Policy Day is the Rhode Island Food Policy Council's (RIFPC) 2 annual celebration of the importance of food advocacy, ensuring that all food stakeholders' voices 3 are heard. People gather to raise awareness about food system issues that RIFPC cares about, and 4 advocates for and speaks directly with legislators about why the RIFPC agenda would make life 5 better for all Rhode Islanders; and 6 WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Food Policy Council advocates for increasing the 7 production of, and the demand for, local food, encourages the development of a thriving and just 8 food economy, ensures access to affordable, healthful, culturally relevant food for all residents, 9 and works towards community health for all residents; and 10 WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Food Policy Council also supports passing legislation that 11 promotes urban and small farm success, healthy school meals, and support for businesses that 12 donate surplus food; now, therefore be it 13 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 14 declares March 27, 2026, to be "Good Food Policy Day" in Rhode Island; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That this House recognizes and expresses gratitude to the RIFPC Executive 16 Director, Nessa J. Richman, Food, Climate and Environment Program Director, Isaac Bearg, 17 Associate Director for Operations, Josh Daly, Associate Director for Network, Rachel Newman 18 Greene, Program Associate- Food, Climate, Environment, Isaac Reid, and the Compost Data & 19 Policy Intern , Arybella Thuel; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 1 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Nessa J.
