H8371 2026 -- H 8371 ======== LC004524 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N RECOGNIZING MARCH 31, 2026 AS "401GIVES DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Representatives Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Shallcross Smith, Casimiro, Chippendale, Place, Kennedy, Giraldo, Solomon, and Slater Date Introduced: March 31, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Rhode Island commit to raising $5 Million 2 during 401Gives, by participating in the state’s largest day of giving to benefit our nonprofit 3 community; and 4 WHEREAS, 401Gives offers a platform for every nonprofit to share its story, while also 5 giving every Rhode Islander the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, Every day in the State of Rhode Island, nonprofit organizations strengthen 8 our communities and economy. They keep our neighbors safe and warm, protect our 9 environment, care for our grandparents, educate our children, shelter our pets, entertain us 10 through the arts, and organize community events that enrich the quality of life across Rhode 11 Island; and 12 WHEREAS, During natural disasters and other times of crisis, Rhode Island’s nonprofit 13 community is always present to help family members and neighbors in need, and during 14 401Gives their stories deserve to be told and their work merits financial support; and 15 WHEREAS, 401Gives brings awareness to the important work happening across Rhode 16 Island’s nonprofit sector every day, uniting hundreds of local nonprofit organizations and 17 thousands of donors in support of stronger communities; and 18 WHEREAS, 401Gives is powered by the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact in partnership 19 with United Way of Rhode Island, and is supported by sponsors and partners committed to 1 activating philanthropy throughout the state; and 2 WHEREAS, The number 401 is special. It is far more than an area code — it is a symbol 3 of our neighborhoods, communities, and the connections we share with one another. 401Gives is 4 more than a giving day; it is a movement; now, therefore be it 5 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 6 recognizes March 31, 2026, as "401Gives Day" and encourages all Rhode Islanders to recognize 7 and support the nonprofit organizations that make our state stronger every day; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 9 transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to United Way of Rhode Island, the Alliance for 10 Nonprofit Impact, and key 401Gives sponsors in recognition of their leadership in advancing 11 philanthropy across the state. ======== LC004524 ======== LC004524 - Page 2 of 2
