WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Sylvia
2
A. DeLuca, of Saunderstown. She was the cherished wife of the late Honorable Anthony DeLuca,
3
with whom she shared a remarkable and loving marriage spanning sixty-six years, building a life
4
centered on devotion, partnership, and family; and
5
WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence and raised in the City of Cranston, Sylvia
6
was a graduate of Cranston High School East and continued her education at Bryant College,
7
which is now known as Bryant University, laying the foundation for a life marked by diligence,
8
intelligence, and thoughtful care in all she pursued; and
9
WHEREAS, She began her professional career assisting in her brother’s jewelry business
10
as a bookkeeper, where her keen attention to detail and strong organizational abilities were
11
readily evident. She later dedicated many years of service as an Administrative Assistant at the
12
University of Rhode Island’s Bay Campus, where she earned the affectionate nickname “the key
13
lady” for her reliability, resourcefulness, and willingness to help others; and
14
WHEREAS, Sylvia was a woman of remarkable talents, who found great joy in cooking
15
and baking for her family, expressed her creativity through painting, and cultivated a deep
16
appreciation for art and design, particularly inspired by Asian aesthetics. Her thoughtful nature
17
and passion for bringing beauty into her surroundings were evident in all that she did, leaving a
18
lasting impression on everyone who knew her; and
19
WHEREAS, Above all, Sylvia’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family,
20
in whom she took immense pride, and whose lives were enriched by her guidance, kindness, and

enduring presence; and
2
WHEREAS, She leaves behind her beloved children, Anthony A. DeLuca, Steven J.
3
DeLuca and his wife Kim, Luisa DeLuca and her wife, Brenda Harvey, along with her precious
4
granddaughters, Cara and Talia DeLuca; and
5
WHEREAS, Sylvia is also survived by her brother, John Mastrobuono and his wife
6
Carole, her sister-in-law Anna Spadetti, and many beloved nieces and nephews including
7
Stephanie Mastrobuono, Claudia Mastrobuono, Liza De Fedele, Marc Mastrobuono, Matthew
8
Mastrobuono, Jon Paul Mastrobuono, Peter J. Spadetti and Nancy Courtemanche; and
9
WHEREAS, Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, John A. and Mary
10
Mastrobuono, her brother Paul E. Mastrobuono, and her brothers-in-law Ciro DeLuca and Peter
11
A. Spadetti; and
12
WHEREAS, Sylvia A. DeLuca will be remembered for her steady wisdom, generous
13
spirit, and the love she so freely gave, leaving behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her
14
family and all who were fortunate to know her; now, therefore be it
15
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
16
expresses its deepest condolences and extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family of Sylvia A.
17
DeLuca; and be it further
18
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
19
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the family of Sylvia A. DeLuca.
