WHEREAS, The health and well-being of Rhode Island residents are of paramount
2
importance; and
3
WHEREAS, Pharmacists are among the most accessible and visible healthcare providers,
4
delivering critical services to patients; and
5
WHEREAS, Pharmacists are well-positioned to ensure optimal medication therapy
6
outcomes, expand public health efforts, provide accessible and quality patient-centered care,
7
education, and advocacy to individuals across the State; and
8
WHEREAS, Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists serve as
9
integral members of the healthcare team, working collaboratively with patients, caregivers,
10
physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize
11
medication therapy and improve health outcomes; and
12
WHEREAS, According to the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), in Rhode
13
Island there are approximately 1,170 licensed pharmacists and 1,590 pharmacy technicians, all
14
providing essential medication management, vaccination services, and other healthcare services
15
to residents across the State; and
16
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Pharmacists Association has declared May 28, 2026, as
17
Rhode Island Pharmacy Advocacy Day; and
18
WHEREAS, Pharmacy Advocacy Day provides an opportunity to recognize and
19
celebrate the contributions of pharmacy professionals to the health and well-being of our

communities, while also raising awareness of the importance of pharmacy advocacy efforts in
2
shaping healthcare policy and advancing the pharmacy profession; and
3
WHEREAS, It is essential that Rhode Islanders support and promote the vital role of
4
pharmacy professionals in public health and healthcare delivery, and encourage greater
5
collaboration between pharmacists, policymakers, healthcare providers, and community
6
stakeholders to address healthcare challenges and improve patient care; now, therefore be it
7
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
8
declares May 28, 2026, as "Pharmacy Advocacy Day" in the State of Rhode Island and
9
encourages all citizens, healthcare professionals, organizations, and institutions to recognize and
10
participate in activities and events that promote pharmacy advocacy, raise awareness of the
11
importance of pharmacists in healthcare, and support the goals and objectives of Pharmacy
12
Advocacy Day; and be it further
13
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
14
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association and
15
the Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy.
