S2070 2026 -- S 2070 ======== LC003123 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N HONORING KATHY NADEAU ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AFTER MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED AND EXEMPLARY PUBLIC SERVICE Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, Lawson, Tikoian, Felag, Burke, Raptakis, Appollonio, Bissaillon, Dimitri, and LaMountain Date Introduced: January 15, 2026 Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration 1 WHEREAS, Kathy Nadeau, a distinguished and highly respected public servant, is 2 retiring after many decades of outstanding public service and leadership with the State of Rhode 3 Island. Ms. Nadeau worked for 33 years as a Human Resource Analyst with the Department of 4 Administration before accepting a position with RIPTA to serve as the Chief of Human 5 Resources; and 6 WHEREAS, Ms. Nadeau has played a pivotal role in modernizing and improving 7 RIPTA's human resources operations, overseeing critical areas such as recruitment, labor 8 relations, benefits, workforce development, and employee engagement, always with a focus on 9 fairness, inclusion, and respect for workers at every level of the organization; and 10 WHEREAS, With a strong commitment to public service and workforce equity, Ms. 11 Nadeau worked tirelessly to implement strategies that addressed statewide bus driver shortages, 12 including leading initiatives for paid on-the-job CDL-permit training and advocating for 13 increased starting wages, which significantly enhanced RIPTA's ability to attract and retain 14 qualified personnel; and 15 WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities as Chief of Human Resources, Ms. 16 Nadeau served with distinction as Recording Secretary and Member of the Joint Pension Board, 17 helping to safeguard and manage the retirement benefits of RIPTA employees with diligence and 18 integrity; and 19 WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Ms. Nadeau earned the admiration of her colleagues, 1 union leaders, and public officials alike for her professionalism, collaborative spirit, and 2 unwavering commitment to the mission of public transportation and the well-being of its 3 workforce; and 4 WHEREAS, Her retirement marks the conclusion of a career defined by integrity, 5 excellence, and service, and her legacy will be felt for years to come in the policies she helped 6 craft and the lives of those she supported; now, therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby honors Kathy Nadeau 8 on the occasion of her retirement from the State of Rhode Island after many years of dedicated 9 and exemplary public service; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 11 transmit a duly certified copy of the resolution to Ms. Kathy Nadeau. ======== LC003123 ======== LC003123 - Page 2 of 2
