EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARY ANN JOHNSON

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Mary
2
Ann “Mare” Johnson on April 5, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love and comfort of
3
her devoted family; and
4
WHEREAS, Born on May 6, 1951, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Walter and
5
Albertina “Tina” Constantine, Mary Ann made Rhode Island her lifelong home, where she built a
6
life defined by compassion, connection, and unwavering devotion to those she loved; and
7
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Johnson was a woman of extraordinary warmth and generosity,
8
known for her open heart and her remarkable ability to make everyone she met feel welcomed,
9
valued, and never alone, embodying a spirit that truly never met a stranger; and
10
WHEREAS, Family was the center of Mary Ann’s life, and she devoted herself
11
wholeheartedly to caring for her loved ones, especially following the profound loss of her
12
beloved husband, Kevin P. Johnson, twenty years ago, demonstrating strength, resilience, and
13
selflessness in the face of heartbreak; and
14
WHEREAS, She found her greatest joy in her role as a mother and grandmother,
15
cherishing her daughters, Jennie Johnson and her husband, Andy Dickson, and Stacy Levin and
16
her husband, Andy Levin, and embracing her grandchildren, Kevin and Camden Dickson, and
17
Ashley and Kyle Levin, who lovingly knew her as “Mare Mare,” a name that reflected the deep
18
affection and bond they shared; and
19
WHEREAS, In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves behind her siblings,
20
Walter Constantine and his wife, Jeanne, Jean Faford and her husband, Donald, and Michael

Constantine and his wife, Janis; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family
2
members, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness and enduring love; and
3
WHEREAS, She is reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Kevin, her parents, Tina
4
and Walter, and other cherished loved ones who predeceased her; and
5
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Johnson’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and human
6
connection, a legacy that will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the deep-rooted
7
values she instilled in her family; now, therefore be it
8
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest
9
condolences and profound sympathy to the family of Mary Ann “Mare” Johnson; and be it further
10
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
11
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the family of Mary Ann “Mare” Johnson.
