EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RAYMOND POULIOT

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Mr.
2
Raymond F. Pouliot. Mr. Pouliot was born in Woonsocket, the youngest of seven children, to the
3
late Raymond E. and Rolande T. Pouliot; and
4
WHEREAS, Mr. Pouliot was a devoted public servant who served the public with
5
distinction and tireless devotion through the United States Postal Service. Mr. Pouliot began his
6
postal service as a letter carrier in Pawtucket and thanks to his incredible work ethic, he was
7
promoted to serve in a managerial position. After 31 years of outstanding service, Mr. Pouliot
8
retired in 2018, as Postmaster of New London, CT; and
9
WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Pouliot took great pride in tending to his farm, raising
10
chickens, goats, pigs, and cows. He also continued to be involved in civic affairs, serving as a
11
member of the Richmond Board of Canvassers. Most importantly, Mr. Pouliot was a devoted
12
husband, father, grandfather, foster father, and public servant; and
13
WHEREAS, Mr. Pouliot’s legacy will live on through the children he raised and the
14
values he instilled in them, having dedicated his life to hard work and to providing for his family
15
with unwavering devotion, ensuring that his children not only had what they needed, but every
16
opportunity to thrive; and
17
WHEREAS, He took great pride in the men his children became and in the lives they
18
built, and his deep commitment to family and service was further exemplified by his role as a
19
foster father to dozens of children over the years, extending his care, guidance, and compassion
20
far beyond his own family; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Pouliot is survived by his wife, Patricia Pouliot, his stepson, Justin
2
Saccoccio, and his wife, Gül. He is also survived by Linda O’Neill, with whom he shared his
3
children, Jonathon Pouliot, and his wife, Deanna, Curtis Pouliot-Alvarez, and his husband, David,
4
Thomas Pouliot and his wife, Maria, David Pouliot, Michael Pouliot, and nine grandchildren. Mr.
5
Pouliot is also survived by his siblings, Edward Pouliot and his wife, Marlene, Nancy Vanasse
6
and her former husband, Ted Hedley, Jr., Judy Johnson and her husband, Fred, Robert Pouliot
7
and his wife, Carol, Susan Giguere and her husband, Richard, and Ronald Pouliot and his wife,
8
Rachel. Mr. Pouliot also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; now, therefore be it
9
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest
10
condolences to the Pouliot Family on the passing of Mr. Raymond F. Pouliot; and be it further
11
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
12
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Patricia Pouliot and Family.
