ENGLAND

WHEREAS, Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts in 1912, establishing an
2
organization dedicated to empowering girls through leadership, service, and personal
3
development; and
4
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England serves more than 4,000 youth
5
across the region with the support of more than 2,000 dedicated volunteers; and
6
WHEREAS, For more than a century, the Girl Scouts have empowered girls to develop
7
courage, confidence, and character, and to make the world a better place; and
8
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England serve communities
9
throughout Rhode Island and nearby regions, providing leadership development programs,
10
outdoor experiences, and community service opportunities to thousands of girls each year; and
11
WHEREAS, Through their dedication, determination, and vision, the Girl Scouts have
12
embarked on transforming Camp Rocky Farm into a state-of-the-art mariner facility, providing
13
Girl Scouts across Rhode Island with unique opportunities to explore the state’s treasured coastal
14
environment while learning the importance of ocean health and careers in the blue economy; and
15
WHEREAS, Through girl-led, collaborative learning initiatives in STEM,
16
entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement, Girl Scouts are prepared to
17
meet the challenges of the future and contribute meaningfully to society; and
18
WHEREAS, Girl Scouts of all ages demonstrate a commitment to service through Take
19
Action projects that make the world a better place; and

WHEREAS, The dedicated volunteers, troop leaders, and families who support Girl
2
Scouts play a vital role in mentoring and guiding the next generation of leaders; now, therefore be

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its gratitude
5
to the Girl Scouts organization for its enduring commitment to empowering girls and fostering
6
leadership, service, and community engagement; and be it further
7
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
8
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England
9
CEO Dana Borrelli-Murray.
