RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor Arrington
Weston, a social studies teacher at Schofield Middle School in Aiken, and to
commend His contributions to educational excellence.
W
hereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for
outstanding teachers, like Arrington Weston, who give their time and talents to
educate and prepare young people in our State to become productive citizens;
and
W
hereas, Mr. Weston is a Golden Apple Award-winning educator and a
Teacher of the Year, and he has been formally recognized by the South Carolina
Legislative Black Caucus for providing excellent education and for uplifting
his community; and
W
hereas, he gives credit to God for the grace to use every
opportunity he finds to make a difference in the lives of young people. His
work is a shining example of what is possible when anyone walks boldly in such
a calling; and
W
hereas, Mr. Weston has founded transformative programs that meet the
needs of the whole child. His literacy initiative has distributed close to five
thousand books to students, which has opened doors to imagination, empowerment,
and academic growth; and
W
hereas, his free haircut program has provided nearly a hundred
students with services that restore dignity, build confidence, and remind
children that they belong and have value. Through L.E.A.D. Club, an
organization he guides with passion and purpose, students have completed over
thirty hours of service to their school community, service which has taught
them the values of responsibility, leadership, and giving back; and
W
hereas, a man of integrity, humility, and extraordinary dedication,
Mr. Weston is a champion to his students and an asset to the great State of
South Carolina. Now, therefore,
B
e it resolved by the
