RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE
BRUCE COOK OF LEXINGTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY
AND TO WISH HIM MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Bruce
Cook of Lexington County celebrated his one hundredth birthday on September 23,
2025; and

W
hereas, born in
Swansea on September 23, 1925, in the first quarter of the twentieth century,
he has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological
advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from
that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and

W
hereas, Mr. Cook
married his first wife in 1949, and together they raised two children, Philip
and Peggy. Following her passing, he found love again and married his second
wife in 1983. Today, he continues to lead an active life, spending time with
fellow veterans and teaching Sunday school at Northside Baptist Church; and

W
hereas, he developed a
passion for aviation early in life and aspired to become a pilot while still in
high school. He served his country honorably as a ball turret gunner in the

the B-17 aircraft. He was honorably discharged in 1945, having completed over two
years of active-duty service during World War II; and

W

Cook founded Lexington Jewelers in Lexington. After two decades of dedicated
service to the community, he sold the business in 1983. The store remained a

years in operation; and

W
hereas, Bruce Cook's
life stands as a testament to resilience, service, and devotion to family and
