VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
01/15/2026
A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE T.L. HANNA GIRLS GOLF TEAM AND
COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2025-2026 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL
LEAGUE AAAAA DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND APPLAUD THEM ON A
FANTASTIC SEASON.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that the T.L. Hanna
girls golf team won their second consecutive Class AAAAA Division II girls golf
State Championship on October 28, 2025, on the Hackler Course at Coastal
Carolina University; and
W
hereas, despite wind
and rain, the Yellow Jackets' composure allowed them to prevail, defending
their title and finishing with an overall score of 642, besting both Conway,
who finished second with a score of 654, and West Florence, who finished third
with a score of 660; and
W
hereas, the Lady
Yellow Jackets showed grit and determination in the face of an uncertain
tournament. Between worsening weather conditions and stiff competition, the
team had to give it their all to defend their championship title. After finding
themselves behind Chapin in the first round, the weather stilled, giving them
the chance they needed in the second round to turn their game around. Some
outstanding performances early in the second round from the leading golfers on
the team helped everyone to play like champions. Coach Gabby Kitts knew that as
long as they played a smart, safe game it would lead to their eventual win; and
W
hereas, the T.L. Hanna
Lady Yellow Jackets had many impressive individual performances. Senior Marisa
Scaletta had a game-changing performance for the team. After a slow start and
adjustments to the weather conditions, Scaletta delivered an eagle 3 on the
par-5 sixth hole, replenishing the team's confidence. She helped secure the win
and took home the individual champion title with a 1-under-par 71. Yellow
Jackets junior Serra Erlenkeuser and sophomore Sierra Schulze joined the top
five, giving T.L. Hanna three players among the state's elite; and
W
hereas, in a sport
that demands precision and focus as well as physical and mental strength, Head Coach
Gabby Kitts and her staff utilized their experience and passion for the sport
to mold a championship-caliber team. The lessons they have instilled in their
golfers will have great life-long impact, shaping them into well-rounded
individuals on and off the course; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly value the pride and recognition that the
T.L. Hanna girls golf team has brought to their school and community and look
forward to following their continued achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,
B
e it resolved by the House
of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the T.L.
Hanna girls golf team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2025-2026
South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division II State Championship title
and applaud them on a fantastic season.
B
e it further resolved that
a copy of this resolution be presented to T.L. Hanna Principal Walter Mayfield
and Head Coach Gabby Kitts.
