TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ARMY MASTER SERGEANT (RET.) ALFONSO
J. BOYD FOR HIS EXEMPLARY MILITARY SERVICE AND DEDICATED LEADERSHIP IN SUPPORT
OF VETERANS AND YOUTH IN CHESTER COUNTY AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON BEING
NAMED THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS VETERAN OF THE YEAR
FOR THE 2025-2026 NOMINATION CYCLE.
W
hereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing those
individuals who, after serving their nation with honor, continue to enrich
their communities through leadership, education, and compassion; and
W
hereas, Army Master
Sergeant (Ret.) Alfonso J. Boyd faithfully served more than twenty-two years in
the United States Army, demonstrating steadfast dedication to mission and
service; and
W
hereas, upon returning
home to Chester County, Master Sergeant Boyd established and expanded Junior
Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs at Great Falls, Lewisville, and
Chester high schools, inspiring generations of students to pursue excellence,
leadership, and civic responsibility; and
W
hereas, for more than
a decade, he has served as commander of Disabled American Veterans (DAV), James
D. Wessinger Chapter 19, guiding the chapter through challenging times and
organizing impactful events such as the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball
Tournament, Quilt of Valor Ceremonies, Dinner With a General celebrations, and
annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day observances; and
W
hereas, under his
leadership, Chester County veterans have received over a million dollars in
earned benefits, strengthening both the local economy and the lives of those
who served; and
W
hereas, Master
Sergeant Boyd continues to uplift others through faith and fellowship,
coordinating countywide veteran care initiatives, participating in civic and
religious outreach, and setting an example of perseverance and compassion; and
W
hereas, in recognition
of his lifelong commitment to service, advocacy, and leadership, the South
Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs has named Master Sergeant Alfonso J.
Boyd Veteran of the Year for the 2025-2026 nomination cycle; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are proud to honor Master Sergeant
Boyd for his remarkable achievements and enduring service to his fellow
veterans and his community. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
House of Representatives

hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and honor Army Master Sergeant (Ret.) Alfonso J. Boyd
for his exemplary military service and dedicated leadership in support of
veterans and youth in Chester County and congratulate him upon being named the South
Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs Veteran of the Year for the 2025-2026
nomination cycle.
