RESOLUTION
TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE FIRST
SERGEANT (RET.) ALVIN KING FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON BEING
NAMED THE 2023-2024 VETERAN OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF
VETERANS' AFFAIRS.
W
hereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives
are immensely proud to recognize those individuals who have dedicated their
lives to the defense of our nation and the continued welfare of our veteran
community; and
W
hereas, a twenty-year veteran of the United States Army, First
Sergeant (Ret.) Alvin King has demonstrated unparalleled leadership, courage,
and commitment throughout a distinguished military career spanning decades of
selfless service; and
W
hereas, upon his retirement from active duty, he did not cease his
mission but instead transitioned his vast experience and passion toward
advocating for the veterans of the Palmetto State, ensuring that those who
served receive the honor, care, and resources they earned; and
W
hereas, First Sergeant King is the founder of the nonprofit Range
Fore Hope Foundation, which focuses on facilitating outdoor activities as a
positive outlet for active-duty service members, combat and disabled veterans,
and their dependents. The foundation's goal is to assist with overcoming the
challenges associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other
difficulties faced by veterans and their families; and

hereas, his tireless efforts in veteran outreach, mentorship, and
community engagement have made a profound impact on the lives of countless
service members and their families across South Carolina; and
W
hereas, in recognition of his outstanding contributions and his
embodiment of the highest ideals of the "Soldier for Life" philosophy, the
South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs has selected him as the
inaugural South Carolina Veteran of the Year for the 2023-2024 nomination cycle;
and
W
hereas, it is fitting and proper that the House of Representatives
pause in its deliberations to acknowledge the lifetime of sacrifice and the
continued civic excellence of this "Old Soldier," Alvin King, who continues to
lead the way. Now, therefore,

hat the members of the South Carolina
House
of Representatives
, by this resolution, honor and recognize First
Sergeant (Ret.) Alvin King for his exemplary service to the United States of
America and the State of South Carolina, and congratulate him upon being named
the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs 2023-2024 Veteran of the
Year.

e it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
First Sergeant (Ret.) Alvin King.
