A concurrent RESOLUTION
to recognize the positive impact of science,
technology, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) EDUCATION ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE
IN SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO DECLARE MARCH 25, 2026, AS "STEM EDUCATION DAY" IN
SOUTH CAROLINA.
W
hereas, the Palmetto
State is committed to providing its next generation of leaders with a rigorous,
well-rounded education; and
W
hereas, Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are recognized as subjects
containing world-class knowledge to be mastered by all graduates of South
Carolina schools; and
W
hereas, STEM learning
in school and after school, in a wide variety of formal and informal learning
settings, all contribute to increased STEM knowledge and skills; and
W
hereas, STEM learning is
enhanced by dedicated and well-prepared teachers, mentors, and volunteers; and
W
hereas, partnerships between
education, industry, and community are key to promoting, supporting, and
improving STEM education in South Carolina; and
W
hereas, South Carolina's
economy, including life sciences, information technology, logistics, protecting
our natural heritage, energy resilience, and a growing focus on electrifying
automotive transportation relies on a STEM-capable workforce; and
W
hereas, it is
important to recognize the contributions of families, educators, employers, and
volunteers in creating and supporting STEM-focused learning and career
opportunities. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the House
of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the positive
impact of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education on
the quality of life of the residents of South Carolina, and declare March 25,
2026, as "STEM Education Day" in South Carolina.
B
e it further resolved that
a copy of this resolution be presented to South Carolina's Coalition for
Mathematics and Science.
