RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE COREY MITCHELL MULTIPLE
SCLEROSIS FOUNDATION FOR THE ORGANIZATION'S OUTSTANDING WORK IN PROVIDING
EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND RESOURCES TO THOSE AFFECTED BY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS; TO
EXTEND BEST WISHES TO FOUNDER COREY MITCHELL FOR MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN
FULFILLING THAT ORGANIZATION'S WORTHY MISSION; AND TO DECLARE THE MONTH OF
MARCH 2026 AS "MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AWARENESS MONTH" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

W
hereas, during the
month of March, which is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, it is entirely
fitting that the South Carolina House of Representatives should pause in its
deliberations to commend the critical services performed by the Corey Mitchell
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (CMMS Foundation); and

W
hereas, led by founder
and CEO Corey Mitchell, the nonprofit CMMS Foundation serves under this
mission: to walk alongside individuals and families affected by MS through
education, outreach, advocacy, and opportunity while restoring hope and dignity
to those who often feel unseen; and

W
hereas, Corey Mitchell
knows firsthand of what he speaks. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a
chronic and often unpredictable disease that affects the central nervous
system. In that moment, when life felt uncertain and the future unclear, he had
two choices: to allow the diagnosis to define him or to allow it to refine his
purpose. Through faith, reflection, and a deep sense of responsibility to
others walking the same road, a vision was born in Corey's heart that
transformed his life. That vision became the Corey Mitchell Multiple Sclerosis
Foundation; and

W
hereas, since its
founding, the CMMS Foundation has grown into a trusted community partner across
the Midlands and beyond. It hosts annual health fairs and walks that provide
education, resources, and access to care; it organizes back-to-school
initiatives that equip hundreds of children with supplies, ensuring no child
starts the school year behind. Moreover, through the organization's Helping
Hands Scholarship Program, the CMMS Foundation supports rising college
students, particularly those entering the medical field, with the hope that one
day they may help create better treatments, improved quality of life, or even a
cure for MS; and

W
hereas, the CMMS
Foundation has been honored by partnerships with local governments, schools,
law enforcement, civic organizations, and healthcare advocates. The
organization is proud to be recognized by the City of Columbia and continues to
collaborate with institutions that believe in strengthening families and
uplifting underserved populations; and

W
hereas, the House
takes great pleasure in adding its tribute to the many encomiums received by
founder Corey Mitchell and his praiseworthy organization, which is rooted in
community, driven by accountability, and guided by compassion. Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and honor the Corey Mitchell Multiple Sclerosis
Foundation for the organization's outstanding work in providing education,
advocacy, and resources to those affected by multiple sclerosis; extend best
wishes to founder Corey Mitchell for much continued success in fulfilling that
organization's worthy mission; and declare the month of March 2026 as "Multiple
Sclerosis Awareness Month" in South Carolina.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Corey Mitchell.
