RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND
HONOR FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS AS SHE CONTINUES ON HER NOTEWORTHY
BOOK TOUR AND TO WELCOME HER ARRIVAL TO THE PALMETTO STATE.

W
hereas, former Vice
President Kamala Harris is scheduled to appear in South Carolina on April 16,
2026, at the Township Auditorium in Columbia for a night of surprising and
revealing insights inspired by her #1
New York Times
bestselling book,
107
DAYS
; and

W
hereas, she will
discuss how to find hope and resilience in the face of adversity. During this
special event, she will share her powerful and timely message about what it
will take to move forward, especially for those feeling disheartened and
disconnected from the current political process; and

W
hereas, former Vice
President Harris will talk about her life story, her historic presidential
campaign, the experiences that have shaped her personal philosophies, and her
path to finding purpose; and

W
hereas, starting with
her defeat of an incumbent to become the district attorney in San Francisco,
the first Black person to do so in the state of California, she shattered
barriers in order to represent and defend her fellow Americans. She later
became the first Black and first woman of South Asian descent to serve as
senator from California in the United State Congress; and

W
hereas, with her
election as vice president of the United States, Harris became the
highest-ranking woman ever in public service in this country, followed by being
the first graduate of a historically black college or university to receive a
major presidential nomination; and

W
hereas, throughout her
many years of public service, former Vice President Harris has always emphasized
that her public service is "for the people," meaning
all
of the people;
and

W
hereas, Harris is
credited with significant accomplishments and policy initiatives including
introducing the Maternal CARE Act and the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act,
which would direct multi-agency efforts to improve maternal health,
particularly among minorities, veterans, and vulnerable populations.
Additionally, she oversaw the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence
Prevention, heralded as the most impactful gun violence prevention measure in
almost three decades. Harris also made noteworthy contributions to critical
issues such as immigration, voting rights, and abortion; and

W
hereas, Harris also
represented the United States on the foreign stage during her service as vice
president, including meeting with more than one hundred fifty world leaders to
strengthen global alliances; and

W
hereas, with nuance,
candor, and a unique perspective,
former Vice
President Harris plans to lead a compelling conversation about how we
collectively should chart a blueprint that sets an alternative vision for the
country. Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and honor former Vice President Kamala Harris as
she continues on her noteworthy book tour and welcome her arrival to the
Palmetto State.

Harris.
