RESOLUTION
To recognize and honor the Heathwood Hall EPISCOPAL
School girls Cross Country team and coaching staff on a wonderful season and to
congratulate them on winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School
association 4A Cross Country Championship.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear that the
Heathwood Hall girls cross country team won their fifth consecutive state
championship title on November 1, 2025, at the South Carolina Independent
School Association's Class 4A Championship in Columbia; and
W
hereas, the
Highlanders finished with an impressive 42 points, with three runners in the
top six, besting their rivals, the Hammond Skyhawks, who finished in second
place with 75 points. This win is a true testament to the Highlanders
perseverance. After a season full of challenges and injuries that kept their
top runners from competing with each other multiple times, the coaching staff
and Lady Highlanders were able to persevere, never losing focus throughout the
season, and coming out on top with the win; and
W
hereas, in a sport
that demands physical and mental strength, Head Coach Willis Ware and his
talented coaching staff utilized their own experience and love for the sport to
shape these young athletes into a championship caliber team. The lessons that
they have taught their team will continue to influence them throughout the rest
of their running careers and lives; and
W
hereas, this win
follows a long line of success for the girls cross country program at Heathwood
Hall. Since 2011, Heathwood has produced nine individual state champions and
six team titles. Their "Earn the View" motto has carried them through these
last five years of consecutive titles, an accomplishment unmatched in the
school's history; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School girls cross country team have brought
their school and community. They look forward to following their future
achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,
B
e it resolved by the
