RESOLUTION

to welcome John Legend, a multiplatinum artist and
producer, for a performance at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, to
congratulate him on his stellar musical career, and to applaud his vibrant
civic and community contributions.

W
hereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that John Legend will
perform live at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, performing renditions of his
greatest hits, such as "All of Me," "Ordinary People," and "Tonight," woven
together with stories from his life and career on Tuesday, March 24, 2026; and

W
hereas, with a
thirteen-time Grammy-winning body of work built over more than twenty years, he
is one of only nineteen people in the prestigious EGOT club of Emmy, Grammy,
Oscar, and Tony award winners, inclusion that places him among the most
versatile entertainers in history. Mr. Legend is a creative force who redefines
what it means to be a modern artist; and

W
hereas, he has
released eleven albums throughout his career from 2004 through 2024. On screen,
he delivered a stunning performance as Jesus in NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar
Live in Concert in 2018, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor
and winning an Emmy as a producer for Outstanding Variety Special; and

W
hereas, beyond his music,
Mr. Legend is a visionary producer and storyteller. Alongside partners Mike
Jackson and Ty Stiklorius, he cofounded Get Lifted Film Company, which has
created a wide range of acclaimed projects across major networks and streaming
platforms on HBO, Paramount+, and Netflix, as well as an upcoming project on
NBC/Peacock. He has also published a wide variety of stories through Get Lifted
Books; and

W
hereas, in 2023, he expanded
his entrepreneurial footprint by launching Loved01, his self-care brand of
gentle but powerful skincare formulas at affordable prices. In 2024, he and his
wife, Chrissy Teigen, introduced Kismet, a dog lifestyle brand offering premium
food and accessories for modern dog families; and

W
hereas, as an advocate
for social justice, Mr. Legend founded FREEAMERICA in 2015 to transform the
conversation around criminal justice policies and to combat mass incarceration.
He serves on the boards of Harlem Village Academies and of Management
Leadership for Tomorrow, as well as advisory boards of the Quattrone Center for
the Fair Administration of Justice and of Teach for All; and

hereas, he was recently
named Philanthropist of the Year at
The Hollywood Reporter's
Annual
Social Impact Summit in recognition of his ongoing commitment to social change;

hereas, the South
Carolina House of Representative values the career of John Legend, a testament
to his unwavering commitment to excellence, creativity, and justice and his
inspiration through his music, storytelling, activism, and entrepreneurship. Now,
