RESOLUTION
To honor and recognize the Berkeley High School
girls basketball team and coaches on a fantastic season and to congratulate
them on winning their second consecutive South Carolina High School League
AAAAA Division II State Championship title.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that the
Berkeley High School girls basketball team defended their title and won their
second consecutive South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division II State
Championship on March 5, 2026, in Columbia; and
W
hereas, this
back-to-back championship win marks the first time in Berkeley High School
history that any sport has won two consecutive state titles; and
W
hereas, with great
skill and excellent teamwork, the Berkeley High School Lady Stags defeated the
Greenville High School Lady Raiders 54-50. After being down 12-6 at the end of
the first quarter, the Lady Stags were determined to turn the game around. They
hustled and ended the first half ahead 21-19. The score continued to stay close
throughout the remainder of the game, with Kennedy Caldwell and Amani McCray
both scoring their free throw shots in the final moments of the game. With an
outstanding performance, Alaina Carter led the team to victory with a 29-point
game; and
W
hereas, in a sport
that requires precision and agility, Head Coach Crystal Peace and her talented
coaching staff utilized their own experience and passion for the sport to mold
a championship-caliber team. The lessons that they have taught these young
athletes will continue to shape them on and off the court; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that the Berkeley High School girls basketball team have brought to their
school and community. The members look forward to hearing about their future
