RESOLUTION
TO HONOR THE
WALHALLA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN
OF THE 2026 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO SALUTE THEM ON A
SENSATIONAL SEASON.
W
hereas, the air on
your face and the ground under your feet feel different when you reach the top
of the mountain. The Walhalla Razorbacks found that out afresh on Friday, March
6, 2026, when they throttled Keenan 70-58 to claim the Class AAA Girls
Basketball Championship; and
W
hereas, in truth, the
Walhalla girls basketball program has moved to elite status in school history.
Before last year's title win, Walhalla hadn't won a state team championship in
any sport since 1952. Now, a year after winning the school's first state championship
in more than seventy years, the Razorbacks have repeated as champs with this
year's dominating win over Keenan; and
W
hereas, to add even
more shine to this year's record, Walhalla (26-2) finished the season on a 21-game
winning streak; and
W
hereas, moreover,
Keenan was playing in its 10th state championship game since 2011, just a few
miles from its own campus, but Walhalla's fans outnumbered Keenan's, and the
Razorbacks put on an impressive display, outrunning and outhustling the
Raiders; and
W
hereas, at the title
match, junior Ashlyn Frick scored a game- and career-high 23 points to lead
Walhalla, along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Baylee Cannon added 19 points,
and Kami Roach had 12. The Razorbacks shot 52% from the floor in the first half
and 48% for the game, while they were 16 of 21 from the free-throw line; and
W
hereas, the scene of
this well-earned triumph was Columbia's Colonial Life Arena, used by the
Razorbacks to demonstrate clearly why Walhalla rose to the top of the rankings.
Walhalla Head Coach Byron Wimphrie had the satisfaction of seeing his players
convincingly prove that they deserved their back-to-back crowns; and
W
hereas, the members of
the Walhalla girls basketball team have given their school and community reason
to be proud of their accomplishments, and the House takes great pleasure in
adding its collective voice to the encomiums flowing in to this outstanding
group of young athletes. Go, Razorbacks! Now, therefore,
B
e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:
T
hat the members of the

and salute them on a sensational season.
B

Head Coach Byron Wimphrie of Walhalla High School.
