TO CELEBRATE THE NORTH AUGUSTA HIGH SCHOOL Yellow JACKETS
varsity girls BASKETBALL TEAM FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO APPLAUD THESE FINE
ATHLETES FOR WINNING THE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
TITLE.

W
hereas, ready for the
challenge, the North Augusta High School varsity girls basketball team went
back-to-back with a 63-50 state title win over Westside on Saturday, March 7,
2026. Held at the Colonial Life Arena, the contest was a rematch of last
season's girls AAAA state final between North Augusta and Westside, also won by
the Yellow Jackets; and

W
hereas, North Augusta
finished the year 28-1, winning their final 27 games in dominating fashion.
Impressively, they outscored their opponents by over 1,000 points, and in the
playoffs they were just as dominant, outscoring their five opponents by 141
points; and

W
hereas, moreover, in
capturing the 2026 state crown, the Yellow Jackets secured their seventh title
in ten years and snapped Westside's 18-game winning streak; and

W
hereas, having honed their
players into a championship machine, Head Coach Al Young and his staff saw the
fruit of long and dedicated labor as the title trophy was hoisted. These gifted
coaches were particularly pleased at the committed way their athletes bought
into the process and followed up their AAAA state title from last year with
another well-earned state win; and

W
hereas, North Augusta
was led in scoring by senior Celena Grant and sophomore Azaria Sapp, with 15
points each. Junior Ashley Walker added 11, and seniors Messiah Williams and
Kenedi Wright added 10 points each. In addition, Messiah Williams had a
game-high 12 rebounds to go with two blocks; and

hereas, with much
pride, the House salutes the North Augusta girls basketball team on taking home
a prestigious state victory well won. Now, therefore,

House of Representatives

hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, celebrate the North Augusta High School Yellow Jackets varsity
girls basketball team for a superb season and applaud these fine athletes for
winning the 2026 South Carolina Class AAAA State Championship title.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Casey Rogers and Head
Coach Al Young.
