RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE GRAY COLLEGIATE ACADEMY SOFTBALL
TEAM ON ITS STELLAR SEASON AND TO SALUTE ITS MEMBERS FOR CAPTURING THE 2025
SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

W
hereas, out to win
gold, the Gray Collegiate Academy softball team played with great determination
and spirit and landed the 2025 Class AAAA State Championship title on Saturday,
May 31, 2025; and

W
hereas, Gray
Collegiate softball fans were confident their team could handle the jump from
Class 2A to 4A this season; and

W
hereas, Coach Doug
Frye's softball players backed that up by defeating York 5-2 in the deciding
game of the best-of-three Class AAAA softball championship series. It was the
Lady War Eagles' third softball state title in the last four years and the
first at the Class AAAA level; and

W
hereas, this title
carried extra meaning for the Lady War Eagles because some people had said the
formerly 2A Gray Collegiate couldn't play in 4A. But the Lady War Eagles knew
better; they knew they were a good team and could do the job, and they proved it
while a proud Coach Frye looked on; and

W
hereas, the War Eagles
(32-3) had to come from behind to win the title after dropping the series
opener 2-1. They defeated York in the second game 4-0 and then clinched the
title Saturday; and

W
hereas, the journey to
winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork,
qualities that always will serve these young women well, both on and off the
field. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the fine work of the
Gray Collegiate Academy softball team and wishes its members much continued
success in all their future endeavors. Go, Lady War Eagles! Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, congratulate the Gray Collegiate Academy softball team on
its stellar season and salute its members for capturing the 2025 South Carolina
High School League Class AAAA State Championship.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Brian Newsome and
Coach Doug Frye of Gray Collegiate Academy.
