RESOLUTION

TO HONOR THE C.A. JOHNSON HIGH
SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2026
CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO SALUTE THEM ON A FINE SEASON.

W
hereas, the air on your face and the ground under your feet feel
different when you reach the top of the mountain. The C.A. Johnson Green
Hornets found that out on Saturday, March 7, 2026, when they knocked down
Bethune Bowman 72-64 to claim the Class A Boys Basketball State Championship;
and

W
hereas, the Green Hornets, playing fewer than four miles from their
own campus, used that proximity to advantage and won the team's first state
championship in more than a decade, as well as its third title in program
history; and

W
hereas, the scene of this well-earned triumph was Columbia's
Colonial Life Arena, used by the Hornets to demonstrate clearly why C.A.
Johnson rose to the top of the rankings. C.A. Johnson Coach Robert McCray had
the satisfaction of seeing his players convincingly prove that they deserved
their crown; and

W
hereas, Aissacc Germany and Javarius Wyche each scored 24 points to
lead the Green Hornets. Class A Player of the Year Milton McCray added 14
points; and

W
hereas, the members of the C.A. Johnson boys basketball team have
given their school and community reason to be proud of their accomplishments,
and the House takes great pleasure in adding its collective voice to the
encomiums flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes. Go, Green
Hornets! Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
House of
Representatives
:

T
hat the members of the South Carolina
House
of Representatives
, by this resolution, honor the C.A. Johnson High
School boys basketball team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2026
Class A State Championship title and salute them on a fine season.

B
e it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Dr. Brenton Coe, principal, and Head Coach Robert McCray of C.A. Johnson High
School.
