TO RECOGNIZE AND
CELEBRATE THE DARLINGTON COUNTRY CLUB ON THE OCCASION OF ITS CENTENNIAL
CELEBRATIONS AND TO HONOR ITS SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DARLINGTON
COUNTY COMMUNITY.

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear about the
100th anniversary of the Darlington County Country Club; and

W
hereas, Darlington
Country Club was founded in 1926 under Club President D.T. McKeithan Jr., and
has been the foundation of the Pee Dee region's social and recreational life
for generations. Over the last 100 years, the club has grown from a modest
nine-hole course into a vibrant club steeped in tradition. Today, they offer golf,
tennis, pickleball, dining, events, and family-focused amenities that continue
to evolve with the community it serves. The current owners and operators are
Tim and Nancy Huntley and Mrs. Huntley is active in the club's day-to-day
operations and serves in a leadership and management role at the club; and

W
hereas, the 2026
Centennial Celebration features a calendar full of events, including a Centennial
Gala for members and their guests, a member-member golf tournament, a weekend
and Legacy Dinner, a community open house and family day, a Memorial Day
Centennial Celebration, a July 4 Centennial Celebration, a Labor Day weekend centennial
celebration, as well as various other family and youth events throughout the
year; and

W
hereas, Nucor Steel
South Carolina-North America's largest steel manufacturer and recycler- will
play a vital role in supporting the many activities and experiences throughout
this year-long celebration, sharing Darlington Country Club's commitment to positively
impacting the daily lives of those in their community. As the presenting sponsor
of the club's centennial celebrations, Nucor will also support Friends of
Southern 500 Junior Golf, an organization formed from the Southern 500 Golf
Invitational, that is dedicated to developing and inspiring young golfers in
the Darlington community and surrounding areas. Through access to educational
programs, competitive opportunities, and valuable resources, the organization
fosters personal growth, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for the game; and

hereas, Darlington
Country Club has become a cornerstone of the community, offering a wealth of
amenities. These amenities include a challenging 18-hole course along Black
Creek, a spacious and recently renovated clubhouse, an Olympic-sized swimming
pool, tennis and pickleball courts, versatile dining, and meeting facilities;
and

W
hereas, for a century the
Darlington Country Club has been a space for community, not only as a gathering
place for friends and family, but also a place that fosters new relationships.
Throughout the years, the club has been a spot where people come together for
recreational fun, to celebrate big life events, and for fellowship with others;
and

W
hereas, through its
unwavering commitment to the community of Darlington County and the surrounding
areas, the Darlington Country Club has created a lasting legacy that will
continue to enhance the quality of life in the community that they serve for
many years to come. Now, therefore,

of its centennial celebrations and honor its significant contributions to the
