RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND
HONOR LYNN WEST, SENIOR EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT FOR AIKEN ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE,
UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER FORTY-THREE YEARS OF EXEMPLARY
SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE
ENDEAVORS
.

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Lynn West will
begin a well-deserved retirement this summer after forty-three years with Aiken
Electric Cooperative, the last ten of which have been as the distinguished and
highly regarded senior executive assistant; and

W
hereas, she joined
Aiken Electric Cooperative (AEC) in 1983 as a system planning clerk, when IBM
Selectric typewriters, Rolodexes, mimeograph machines, and landlines were
essential office tools. Over the years, she not only adapted to change, but she
also embraced it, growing alongside the co-op; and

W
hereas, in 1987, she
became the secretary of administrative services and served the executive vice
president and general manager as acting administrative assistant. Two years
later, she was named benefits secretary, followed by administrative assistant
of the Marketing Department in 1990, and administrative assistant to the
executive vice president and general manager in 1991. She was named executive
assistant to the CEO in 1995, and has served as senior executive assistant
since 2016; and

W
hereas, as executive
assistant, Ms. West has provided direct administrative support to the CEO and has
served as a key liaison between the CEO, Board of Trustees, senior management,
and internal and external stakeholders of Aiken Electric Cooperative and its
subsidiaries; and

W
hereas, she exemplified
a profound sense of service to others while working at the co-op, developing concern
for community as a key cooperative principle, and she witnessed and
participated in countless efforts where AEC employees give back, volunteer, and
support the communities they serve; and

W
hereas, Ms. West's
commitment to service, learning, and adapting inspired her two sons, Cody and
Trevor, to pursue careers within the cooperative system themselves. Cody is
office manager at Edisto Electric Cooperative, and Trevor serves as an energy
services specialist at Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative. Over the years, her
family has provided her with their love, encouragement, and support; and

W
hereas, grateful for
her many years of distinguished service to Aiken Electric Cooperative, the
South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in extending best
wishes to Lynn West as she transitions to a richly deserved retirement and the
unhurried pace of the days ahead, and the members wish her many years of
enjoyment in her well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,
