RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RIDGE
VIEW HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM for WINNING THE 2026 Class AAAAA Division
I State Championship and to commend them for their continued excellence and
dominance in high school basketball.
W
hereas, the Ridge View High School boys basketball team captured the
2026 Class AAAAA Division I State Championship with an impressive 65-44 victory
over Ashley Ridge High School at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on Friday,
March 6, 2026; and
W
hereas, this victory marks the Blazers' seventh state championship
in the past nine years and their third consecutive title, firmly establishing
Ridge View as a dominant force in South Carolina high school basketball; and
W
hereas, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Joshua
Staley, the Blazers entered the championship game as the top team in Class AAAAA
Division I and fulfilled expectations with discipline, teamwork, and
exceptional athletic performance; and
W
hereas, the championship game held special significance for Coach
Staley, who once played under Coach Brad Dobbels at Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High
School, and who competed against his former mentor, now the head coach of
Ashley Ridge High School; and
W
hereas, the Blazers demonstrated remarkable teamwork in the
championship game, with DJ Wylie leading the scoring effort with 14 points,
R.J. Davis contributing 11 points, and JT Vankallan and Talan Staley each
adding 10 points; and
W
hereas, the Ridge View High School boys basketball team has brought
great pride and recognition to their school, their community, and Richland
School District Two through their dedication, perseverance, and championship
achievements. Now, therefore,

House of
Representatives
:
T
hat the members of the South Carolina
House
of Representatives
, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Ridge View
High School boys basketball team for winning the 2026 Class AAAAA Division I State
Championship and commend them for their continued excellence and dominance in
high school basketball.
B
e it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Principal Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth and Head Coach Joshua Staley.
