RESOLUTION
TO HONOR THE OCEANSIDE COLLEGIATE
ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2025 CLASS AAA
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
W
hereas, fully prepared for the challenge, the Oceanside Collegiate
Academy football team drove past Belton-Honea Path 28-7 to finish the season
with some highly coveted hardware and the 2025 Class AAA State Championship on
Friday, December 5, 2025; and
W
hereas, it was the team's third consecutive state title win and the
second straight year the Landsharks have bested the Bears in the 3A finals.
They won the 2A state title in 2023; and
W
hereas, during the title game, Oceanside quarterback Aiden Manavian
was 11-21 for 152 yards and a touchdown. The opening score of the game was
Manavian connecting with Anthony Williams on a 47-yard score in the second
quarter. After a Joey Harriott sack caused a fumble that the Landsharks
recovered, Terence Johnson would rush for his first touchdown of the day to
make it a 14-0 halftime lead; and
W
hereas, the Landsharks' defense continued to dominate in the third
quarter, getting an interception from Michael Strickler and another forced
fumble on a sack from Sawyer Arnold. Johnson would add two more touchdown runs
in the fourth quarter to up the lead to 28-0; and
W
hereas, moreover, the Oceanside defense held the Belton-Honea Path
offense, which had averaged almost 50 points per game this season, to just 204
total yards of offense. Oceanside's defense was led by Rhys Meredith with
eleven total tackles and assisted by Michael Strickler, who snagged an
interception in the win; and
W
hereas, it was a satisfying conclusion to a fine 13-2 season; and
W
hereas, such victories do not come overnight; they take
determination and hard work. With proven consistency in both, Oceanside's Head
Coach Brent LaPrad built his football program into championship caliber and
shaped a team that refused to settle for second best; and
W
hereas, the Landsharks have given their school and community reason
to be proud of their accomplishments, and the members of the House of
Representatives take great pleasure in adding their collective voice to the
many encomiums flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes. Now,
therefore,
B
e it resolved by the
House of
Representatives
:
T
hat the members of the South Carolina
House
of Representatives
, by this resolution, honor the Oceanside Collegiate
Academy football team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2025 Class AAA
State Championship.
B
e it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Interim Principal Mike Lorenz and Head Coach Brent LaPrad of Oceanside
Collegiate Academy.
