RESOLUTION
To recognize and honor the River Bluff High School
chess team and sponsors for a remarkable season and to congratulate them on
winning the 2026 south Carolina scholastic chess championship.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were delighted to hear that the
River Bluff High School chess team claimed their second consecutive
championship title at the South Carolina Scholastic Chess Championship, held at
the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Saturday, March 21, 2026; and
W
hereas, the River
Bluff High School chess team includes Daniel Lim, Dheer Chheda, Joseph
Sorenson, Landon Peeples, Rishabh Reshamwala, Rivers Hughes, Rushaan Sotimagar and
Tyler Murrah, several of whom have earned individual recognition for their
stellar performances throughout the season in competition, preforming at a high
level in the Palmetto Scholastic Chess League; and
W
hereas, this
back-to-back championship win is the perfect ending to an outstanding season as
the River Bluff Gators have consistently dominated the competition all season
with their excellent performances. They take pride in their dedication and
efforts to raise the reputation of chess in the area; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that the River Bluff chess players have brought to their school and community. They
are honored to recognize these students for their achievements both on the
chess team and in the classroom. Their commitment to excellence promises even
greater success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and honor the River Bluff High School chess team
and sponsors for a remarkable season and congratulate them on winning the 2026 South
Carolina Scholastic Chess Championship.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to River Bluff Principal Jacob
Smith and team sponsors Matthew Sawicz and Darwin Cardenas.
