A
house
RESOLUTION

to express the profound sorrow of the south caroLina
house of representatives upon the passing of Gregory George Anderson of Folly
Beach and to extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of
the passing of Gregory George Anderson of Folly Beach on March 13, 2026, at the
venerable age of seventy-eight; and

W
hereas, Greg Anderson
was born in 1947, the son of the late Andy and Barbara Anderson. As a child,
Greg contracted polio, having been born before a vaccine was available. Despite
the challenges it presented, he demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience,
and determination, refusing to allow adversity to limit his life; and

W
hereas, after the loss
of his father at age seventeen and his brother Wayne nine years later, Greg
developed a profound appreciation for the fleeting nature of life and embraced
each moment fully. His passion for the sea led him to leave the corporate world
and pursue a distinguished career as a yacht captain and maritime professional.
After meeting his wife, Dr. Donna D. Johnson, he chose to remain ashore, and went
on to manage a marina in San Diego, serving the mega-yacht community; and

W
hereas, Greg was a devoted
and loving husband who wholeheartedly supported his wife's distinguished career
in academic medicine, serving as her greatest champion and steadfast source of
encouragement; and

W
hereas, Gregory
Anderson was deeply committed to community service, founding the "Little Race
for Little People" in San Diego to support families with newborns in neonatal
intensive care, and contributing meaningfully to the development of the local
maritime industry; and

W
hereas, after
relocating to South Carolina, he faithfully served on the Folly Beach Planning
Commission, working diligently to preserve the character of the community, and
served as president of Charleston Oceanfront Villas for more than twenty-five
years; and

W
hereas, he was a
devoted husband to Dr. Donna D. Johnson, a beloved brother and closest friend to
Micheal Anderson, and a cherished member of a large and loving extended family,
including sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, each
of whom he held dear. He was also devoted to his loyal canine companion,
Connor, who was always at his side; and

W
hereas, he will be
remembered not for accolades, but for his adventurous spirit, kindness, gift
for storytelling, love of family, and dedication to mentoring the next
generation. Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Gregory George
Anderson of Folly Beach and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many
friends.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family.
