RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND
APPLAUD THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON CAPTURING THE 2025
CLASS AAAAA, DIVISION 2 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO CONGRATULATE THESE
ATHLETES AND THEIR COACHES ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

W
hereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives was pleased to learn that on Saturday,
November 15, 2025, at Aiken Steeplechase, York County's Fort Mill High School
boys cross country team took home their second consecutive Class AAAAA,
Division 2 State Championship title; and

W
hereas, the Fort Mill
High School boys cross country team enjoyed a banner year, much to the delight
of their fans and the disappointment of their rivals. In ultimate testimony to
their achievements, the team became back-to-back state champs; and

W
hereas, in a 48-point performance
that enabled the Yellow Jackets to pack up hardware only champions get to take
home, Fort Mill topped second-place Chapin; and

W
hereas, the Yellow
Jackets had four top ten runners, including seniors Finn Leckrone, who finished
second overall with a time of 15:51:34, and Connor Demmerle, who finished in
fourth place clocking a time of 16:05:11. Sophomore Owen Ware placed fifth with
a time of 16:10:25, and junior Hudson Haley landed in seventh place crossing
the finish line at 16:17:03; and

W
hereas, in a sport
that demands physical and mental strength, Coach Lee Whitaker, along with his skilled
coaching staff, utilized their own experiences and passion for the sport to
mold a championship-caliber team. The lessons they have taught these young
athletes will continue to prove invaluable on and off the course for the rest
of their athletic careers, as well as throughout their lives; and

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the pride and
recognition the Fort Mill High School boys cross country team have brought to
their school and community and they look forward to following the Yellow
Jackets' future successes in the days to come. Now, therefore,

House of Representatives

hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and applaud the Fort Mill High School boys cross country
team on capturing the Class AAAAA, Division 2 State Championship title and
congratulate these athletes and their coaches on an outstanding season.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Zachary D. Beam and
Coach Lee Whitaker.
