RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR chief Master Sergeant George
J. Huffstetler UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER many YEARS OF
EXEMPLARY SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS
FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
W
hereas, it is altogether
fitting and proper that the members of the House of Representatives of the
State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their
gratitude to Chief Master Sergeant George J. Huffstetler for his many years of
service to the North Carolina Air National Guard; and
W
hereas, CMSgt George
J. Huffstetler joined the 145th Civil Engineer Squadron in 1994 after serving
in the United States Navy from 1990 to 1994 in aviation administration. He is a
Desert Storm veteran having supported over 3,000 combat sorties, which
contributed to the liberation of Kuwait. He was deployed three times aboard the
USS America CV-66 as a part of Carrier Air Wing 1, earning his Enlisted
Aviation Warfare Specialist designation. He supported Operation Deny Flight and
Southern Watch, the United Nations peacekeeping efforts over Bosnia in 1993,
reporting later that year to Groundhog Station, in support of UN efforts in
Somalia; and

hereas, CMSgt
Huffstetler enlisted in the Air National Guard traditionally as a structural journeyman.
He put his skills to use while helping construct the 145th Regional Home
Station Training Site located in New London, North Carolina, and became the
first federal full-time instructor hired at that location in 2002. He served in
many capacities within the local, National Guard Bureau, and Air Force level
functions. In 2010, CMSgt Huffstetler stood up the Silver Flag bridge mission
at the 145th Regional Training Site in order to allow Active-Duty Silver Flag
sites to reset their curriculums. He served as superintendent of training,
coordinating instructor support globally and homogenizing the best practices
from other training sites to execute contingency exercises. He helped to
develop and implement the original Mission Essential Equipment Training
curriculum that is still used today; and

hereas, CMSgt
Huffstetler most recently served as the facility manager and the Senior
Enlisted Leader for the 145th Civil Engineer Squadron, North Carolina Air
National Guard in Charlotte. He also served as federal program manager for
facilities operations and maintenance activities and as the federal resource advisor,
managing a multimillion-dollar annual budget for distinct funding types; and

hereas, CMSgt Huffstetler
was handpicked by the National Guard Bureau to validate eighty separate civil engineer
budgets for multiple years totaling more than 240 million dollars. He also
served as a voting member on the integrated engineering management system
technical review board, steering technology for facility operations and budgets
for all Air National Guard installations; and

hereas, CMSgt
Huffstetler has received many notable awards for his exemplary service,
including the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air
Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Army
Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster; and
W
hereas, grateful for
his many years of distinguished service, the members of the South Carolina
House of Representatives take great pleasure in extending best wishes to Chief
Master Sergeant George J. Huffstetler as he transitions to a richly deserved
retirement. Now, therefore,

House of Representatives

by this resolution, recognize and honor Chief Master Sergeant George J.
Huffstetler upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of exemplary
service, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future
endeavors.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Master Sergeant George J.
Huffstetler.
