W
hereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Marine Corps
League Department of South Carolina will hold its 2026 convention in Columbia
on June 11-14; and

W
hereas, the Marine
Corps League was founded in 1923 by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, then
Major General John A. Lejeune. On August 4, 1937, the United States Nineteenth

the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve the
traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of
Marines and their families; serve Marines and FMF Navy Personnel who wear or
who have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor; and foster the ideals of
Americanism and patriotic volunteerism; and

W
hereas, the league is
the only federally chartered Marine Crops-related veterans' organization in the
country. Since its earliest days, the league has enjoyed the support and
encouragement of the active duty and reserve establishments of the Marine
Corps; and

W
hereas, the league
boasts a membership of more than sixty thousand people: officers and enlisted,
active duty and reserve Marines, honorably discharged Marine veterans, and
qualified FMF Navy personnel; and

W
hereas, the Marine
Corps League Department of South Carolina was established in 1993 and currently
has a membership of more than one thousand and supports programs and efforts
related to Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Leadership Awards,

W
hereas, the Marine
Corps maintains a significant presence in the State of South Carolina, and the
majority of the members of the department were either trained at Parris Island
or were stationed at other locations for duty throughout the State; and

W
hereas, the House of
Representatives values the significant presence and volunteer service of the
Marine Corps League in the State and wish its members continued success at the 2026
convention in Columbia. Now, therefore,
