RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR KATHY HILL FOR MORE THAN
THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA
AND THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SPARTANBURG, AND TO COMMEND HER FOR HER EXEMPLARY
CIVIC LEADERSHIP AND ENDURING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER COMMUNITY.
W
hereas, Kathy Hill, a
native of Lyman, has devoted more than thirty-five years of distinguished service
to the State of South Carolina and the citizens of the City and County of
Spartanburg, demonstrating unwavering dedication, professionalism, and
commitment to public service; and
W
hereas, a graduate of
James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, Mrs. Hill earned an associate degree
from Spartanburg Community College and later obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in nonprofit administration
from the University of South Carolina Upstate, exemplifying her lifelong
pursuit of educational and professional excellence; and
W
hereas, Mrs. Hill
began her career with the City of Spartanburg in housing services and
subsequently advanced through positions in community development and executive assistant
to the city manager before assuming her current role as community relations manager;
and
W
hereas, even after
retirement, Mrs. Hill returned to continue serving the residents of
Spartanburg, reflecting her deep commitment to the people and communities she
has faithfully supported throughout her career; and
W
hereas, during her
tenure as community relations manager, Mrs. Hill provided leadership and
oversight for numerous initiatives designed to strengthen neighborhoods and
foster community engagement, including the city's annual Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. Unity Week Celebration, National Night Out, Citizen Academy programs,
neighborhood development initiatives, traffic-calming efforts, accommodations
tax support, antilitter campaigns, and the Neighborhood Tool Shed program; and
W
hereas, through these
initiatives, Mrs. Hill served as a vital bridge between local government and
the citizens of Spartanburg, earning admiration, trust, and respect of
residents throughout the community; and
W
hereas, Mrs. Hill's
service extends beyond municipal government through her mentorship with Meeting
Street Academy, service as a board member for Business and Professional Women
and Keep Spartanburg Beautiful, participation as a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg,
and her recent induction into the Top Ladies of Distinction, Greater
Spartanburg Upstate GEMS Chapter. Her civic footprint reflects a woman who has
invested herself fully in the betterment of her community; and
W
hereas, in her
personal life, Kathy and her husband, Calvin Hill, are faithful members of
Bethesda Baptist Church in Union, where she serves as a youth ministry advisor,
deaconess, member of the mass choir, and a singer with the praise and worship
ministry, Serenity. She is a devoted sibling, proud aunt, and cherished
godmother; and
W
hereas, guided by the
scripture found in Colossians 3:23, "Work willingly at whatever you do, as
though you were working for the Lord rather than the people," Mrs. Hill has exemplified
selfless service, integrity, and compassion throughout her life and career; and
W
hereas, it is
altogether fitting and proper for the members of the South Carolina House of
Representatives to pause in their deliberations to commend Kathy Hill for her
outstanding achievements, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to
service and excellence. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
House of Representatives
:

hat the members of the
South Carolina
House of Representatives
,
by this resolution, recognize and honor Kathy Hill for more than thirty-five
years of dedicated public service to the State of South Carolina and the City
and County of Spartanburg, and commend her for her exemplary civic leadership
and enduring contributions to her community.
B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kathy Hill.
