TO HONOR AND
RECOGNIZE GREGORY "GG" JACKSON II FOR HIS OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL
ACHIEVEMENTS AND HIS PHILANTHROPIC CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE KERSHAW COUNTY
COMMUNITY.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor Gregory "GG"
Jackson II of Camden for his philanthropic efforts within the Kershaw County
community and his outstanding achievements in the National Basketball
Association (NBA); and
W
hereas, a role model
and student athlete, GG Jackson attended school in Kershaw County until his
graduation from Camden Middle School. He is a notable alumnus of the Jackson
Teen Center in Camden and Ridge View High School in Columbia. His exceptional
talent and dedication to basketball led to his enrollment at the University of
South Carolina. As a freshman on the basketball team at the University of South
Carolina, he completed eighteen credit hours and made the Dean's List. After
his freshman year, he was drafted to play in the NBA by the Memphis Grizzlies;
and
W
hereas, GG Jackson has
consistently demonstrated a commitment to leveraging his success to benefit his
community, exemplified by his introduction of the "Groom and Grind Day" event at
the Jackson Teen Center. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that every child
in Kershaw County is prepared for a successful first day of school and raises
awareness about the critical issue of bullying; and

hereas, the "Groom and
Grind Day" event reflects Mr. Jackson's dedication to fostering a supportive
and nurturing environment for the youth of Kershaw County by providing
essential resources, mentorship, and advocacy against bullying, thereby
contributing to the overall well-being and development of children in the
community; and
W
hereas, his ongoing
efforts to give back to his community not only highlight his personal integrity
and leadership, but also serve as inspiration to others by demonstrating the
positive impact that professional athletes can have on their communities
through philanthropy and civic engagement; and
W
hereas, the members of the
South Carolina House of Representatives express their sincere gratitude to GG
Jackson for his unwavering support and dedication to the youth of Kershaw
County, particularly through the impactful "Groom and Grind Day" initiative. Now,
therefore,

by this resolution, honor and recognize Gregory "GG" Jackson II for his
outstanding professional basketball achievements and his philanthropic
