RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE HARTSVILLE COUNTRY CLUB ON THE
OCCASION OF ITS ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO HONOR ITS SIGNIFICANT
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HARTSVILLE COMMUNITY AND DARLINGTON COUNTY.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were delighted to learn that
Hartsville Country Club is celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2026; and
W
hereas, opened on September
30, 1926, Hartsville Country Club has become a cornerstone of the community
through the wealth of amenities it offers. These amenities include the club's
golf course, which hearkens back to the mid-1920s and originated as a nine-hole
course. Those front nine holes were designed by legendary golf course architect
Donald Ross; the back nine holes were added in 1949. Since then, the
eighteen-hole course has undergone numerous remodels, directed over the years by
Robert Trent Jones, Tom Watson, and, most recently, Hartsville native Al Fink;
and
W
hereas, featuring a
number of water hazards and sand traps along the way, the course is intended to
be challenging yet enjoyable. Further, it is home to the golf teams of Coker
University, McBee High School, and Hartsville High School. Members and guests
have access to an outdoor driving range and a facility for instruction, the
David Dorn Golf Academy; and
W
hereas, more broadly,
Hartsville Country Club is a multi-sport facility, fine-dining option, and
event venue located just outside the heart of downtown Hartsville. In addition
to the eighteen-hole golf course, members and guests enjoy the club's tennis,
pickle ball, and pool amenities, as well as the pro shop, which offers one-stop
shopping for golf and tennis gear and lessons for players of all ages and skill
levels. On Sundays, the club also offers regular bar and food services and a
buffet-style lunch. The ballroom and bar areas are available by reservation and
are often used by civic groups, wedding parties, and community social clubs;
and
W
hereas, the 2026
Centennial Celebration features an inviting calendar of events, including a
Steak Night with DJ Michael Melton on July 10, Kids' Outdoor Fun and a
Celebration with DJ Dan E. Lockemy on July 11, and the Centennial Table Sunday
Buffet on July 12; and
W
hereas, for a century,
the Hartsville Country Club has been a space for community meetings, not only
as a gathering place for friends and family but also as a place that fosters
new relationships. Throughout the years, the club has been a spot where people
come together for recreational fun, for the celebration of important life
events, and for fellowship with others; and
W
hereas, through its
unwavering commitment to the community of Hartsville, as well as to Darlington
County at large, Hartsville Country Club has created a lasting legacy that will
continue to enhance quality of life in the lives of those it serves for many
years to come. Now, therefore,
