TO CONGRATULATE THE Christ Church Episcopal School
Boys Basketball Team, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON
AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAA BOYS STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.
W
hereas, the South
Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Christ Church Episcopal School boys
basketball team for winning the South Carolina Class AAA boys state
championship on March 6, 2026, at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia; and
W
hereas, this historic
win marks the program's first South Carolina High School League AAA state
championship since moving to the classification two years ago; and
W
hereas, in the
championship game, the Christ Church Cavaliers defeated the Fox Creek Predators
by a score of 52-49. With twelve seconds remaining, David Dixon scored a corner
three-point shot that gave Christ Church the win; and
W
hereas, with an
exceptional season overall, the team had a record of 25-1 going into the
championship game; and
W
hereas, the Christ
Church boys basketball team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of
Head Coach John Butler and Assistant Coaches Todd Mattos, James Perry, and
Jeremiah Ferguson; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Christ
Church boys basketball team has brought to its school and community and look
forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its
talented athletes. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
congratulate the Christ Church Episcopal School boys basketball team, coaches,
and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the
South Carolina Class AAA boys state championship.
B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Christ Church Episcopal
School boys basketball team, the team's head coach, John Butler; assistant coaches,
Todd Mattos, James Perry, and Jeremiah Ferguson; athletic director, Molly
Miller; and headmaster, David Padilla.
