A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Bill ReynoldS of Aiken County
FOr his outstanding civic leadership, dedicated community service, and
exceptional role as chairman of the "All Hands on Deck" Campaign for Aiken
Senior Life Services and to commend him for many years of volunteerism that has
strengthened the city of aiken and improved the quality of life for its
citizens.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to recognize individuals whose
leadership and selfless service enhance their communities and inspire others;
and
W
hereas, after a
business career with Proctor and Gamble, Bill Reynolds has distinguished
himself as one of Aiken County's most dedicated civic leaders, generously
contributing his time, expertise, and energy to numerous community initiatives
that have strengthened the cultural, civic, and philanthropic life of the City
of Aiken; and
W
hereas, most recently,
Mr. Reynolds served as chairman of the "All Hands on Deck" Campaign for Aiken
Senior life Services, an ambitious effort designed to create a financial
reserve for the organization's Meals on Wheels program to ensure that seniors
in Aiken County will never go without a meal even during periods of funding uncertainty;
and
W
hereas, under his
leadership, the campaign assembled a talented team of community leaders and
achieved unprecedented unity, receiving one hundred percent participation and
support from Aiken Senior Life Services' Board of Directors, campaign committee
members and full-time staff; and
W
hereas, a civic
leader, Mr. Reynolds has served with many community organizations since moving
to Aiken in 2000, including serving as chairman of "Celebrate Aiken!," which
organized twenty-six events for the one hundred seventy-fifth anniversary of
the city's founding; president of the Aiken Center of the Arts, where he served
in a variety of roles, including interim executive director and chairman of the
Endowment Committee; leadership roles with the Friends of Hopelands and Rye
Patch; chairman of Horse Play, a community art project involving thirty-one
fiberglass horses decorated by local artists to raise money for scholarships
for children and the elderly at the Aiken Center of the Arts; member of the City
of Aiken Planning Commission in 2001, for which he also served as chairman from
2008-2010; chairman of the City of Aiken Open Space Task Force from 2007-2011;
and president of the Friends of Aiken County Library, leading the library
through a multi-million dollar major renovation in 2021; and
W
hereas, over the
years, Mr. Reynolds has received a number of honors and awards, including the
Aiken
Standard
Person of the Year in both 2010 and 2021 and the Greater Aiken
Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2020 for his tireless efforts in the
Aiken community; and
W
hereas, Mr. Reynolds is
married to his wife of forty-one years, Susan, and together, they have four
children and seven grandchildren; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly greatly appreciate the dedication and
commitment that Mr. Reynolds has shown in serving the people and the State of
South Carolina. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Bill Reynolds
of Aiken County for his outstanding civic leadership, dedicated community
service, and exceptional role as chairman of the "All Hands On Deck" campaign
for Aiken Senior Life Services and commend him for many years of volunteerism
that has strengthened the City of Aiken and improved the quality of life of its
citizens.
