RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE West Florence high school
WOMEN'S Tennis TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND
TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA high school league CLASS AAAAA
division II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
W
hereas, the South
Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the West Florence High School Women's tennis
team for winning the 2025 South Carolina High School League Class 5A Division
II state championship; and
W
hereas, this historic
win marks the program's first state championship in school history. The West
Florence Knights also won the 2025 South Carolina High School League Class 5A
Division II lower state championship, which was another first in the school's
history; and
W
hereas, the winning
team included Elle Brannon, Caroline Collins, Lillian Guerriero, Erin Mills,
Grace Murrell, Kessler Richardson, Lily Richbourg, Maia Rivera-Cintron, Mattie
Segars, Emma Watford, and Shelby White; and
W
hereas, several
members of the team received awards this year, including Shelby White, who won
the 2025 South Carolina High School League Class 5A/4A Individual state
championship, a first in school history; Shelby White and Grace Murrell, who
won the 2025 South Carolina High School League All State Selection; and Emma
Watford, who was honored as the 2025 South Carolina Athletic Coaches
Association North-South All Star Player Selection; and
W
hereas, with an
exceptional season overall, the West Florence Knights had a record of twenty-three
wins and one loss in 2025. The team excelled due to their teamwork, commitment,
and respect for their peers and competitors alike; and
W
hereas, the West
Florence High School women's tennis team has flourished under the leadership
and guidance of Coach Abby Sullivan, who was recognized as the 2025 South
Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year and the 2025 South
Carolina Athletic Coaches Association North-South All Star Coach Selection; and
W
hereas, the team has
also engaged in community outreach efforts such as student government, the
National Honor Society, the Act of Kindness Club, PEARLS, the Beta Club, the
National Technical Honor Society, HOSA, and the STEM program, all of which
strengthen the connection between team members and their community; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the West
Florence High School women's tennis team has brought to its school and
community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by
the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:

hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
congratulate the West Florence High School women's tennis team, coaches, and
school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South
Carolina High School League Class 5A Division II state championship.
B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the West Florence High School women's
tennis team, Coach Abby Sullivan, and Principal April Leroy.
