TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE VICTORY WORKS PROGRAM
AT HEYWARD CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER FOR ITS OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO
PREPARING TRANSITION-AGE STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES FOR EMPLOYMENT, INDEPENDENT
LIVING, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND TO HONOR THE PROGRAM FOR ITS DEDICATION
TO SUPPORTING AND RECOGNIZING VETERANS.
W
hereas, the Victory
Works Program at Heyward Career and Technology Center serves students ages 18
through 21 with intellectual disabilities and autism who have completed high
school but did not receive a diploma; and
W
hereas, the program
provides structured instruction in employability, independent living, and
social skills to support a successful transition into adulthood; and
W
hereas, students
participate in hands-on learning experiences and community-based instruction
that promote workplace readiness, communication, financial literacy, and
independence; and
W
hereas, the Victory
Works Program fosters strong community partnerships and emphasizes civic
engagement and service; and
W
hereas, students
actively participate in the annual Veterans Day Community Action Program, where
they honor veterans and learn the importance of service and sacrifice; and
W
hereas, this
initiative has earned statewide and national recognition through SkillsUSA,
with Victory Works students placing at both the state and national levels for
two consecutive years; and
W
hereas, these
accomplishments demonstrate exceptional leadership, teamwork, and commitment to
community service; and
W
hereas, the South
Carolina Senate recognizes the importance of programs that prepare students
with disabilities for independence and meaningful community participation; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are thankful to the Victory Works Program at Heyward
Career and Technology Center for its outstanding contributions to student
success and community engagement. They applaud the program's dedication to
honoring veterans and congratulate the students on their state and national
achievements through SkillsUSA. Now, therefore,

hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
recognize and commend the Victory Works Program at Heyward Career and
Technology Center for its outstanding commitment to preparing transition-age
students with disabilities for employment, independent living, and community
engagement, and honor the program for its dedication to supporting and
recognizing veterans.

that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Victory Works Program.
