TO RECOGNIZE APRIL 2026 AS "Foot health Awareness
MONTH" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

W
hereas, the human foot
is a complex structure containing twenty-six bones and serves as the foundation
for the rest of the body's mobility and overall health; and

W
hereas, approximately twenty
percent of Americans experience at least one foot problem annually, and many
systemic diseases, such as diabetes and peripheral arterial disease, often
manifest first in the feet; and

W
hereas, untreated foot
conditions can lead to further complications in the ankles, knees, hips, and
lower back, affecting quality of life for many South Carolinians; and

W
hereas, National Foot
Health Awareness Month, established by the American Podiatric Medical
Association, seeks to educate the public on simple, preventative steps such as
daily inspections, proper footwear, and regular check-ups to avoid serious
injury and illness; and

W
hereas, it is the
desire of the South Carolina General Assembly to encourage its citizens to
prioritize their health and well-being from the ground up. Now, therefore,

hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
recognize April 2026 as "Foot Health Awareness Month" in South Carolina.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the South Carolina Podiatric
Medical Association.
