TO CONGRATULATE THE West-Oak High SCHOOL BOYS
Wrestling TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO
HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAA BOYS Wrestling STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.

W
hereas, the South
Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the West-Oak High School boys wrestling
team for winning the South Carolina Class AAA boys wrestling state championship
on February 11, 2026, at Lexington High School; and

W
hereas, this historic
win marks the program's fifth consecutive state championship and its tenth in
school history; and

W
hereas, in the
championship game, the West-Oak Warriors defeated the Hanahan Hawks by a score
of 54-15, with wins in all but three weight classes; and

W
hereas, with an
exceptional season overall, the team had a record of 32-1 going into the
championship game; and

W
hereas, the West-Oak
High School boys wrestling team has flourished under the leadership and
guidance of Head Coach Derek Strobel and assistant coaches, Representative Adam
Duncan, Ian James, Al Billings, Rick McLaughlin, and Matt Williams; and

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the West-Oak
High School boys wrestling team has brought to its school and community and
look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and
its talented athletes. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
congratulate the West-Oak High School boys wrestling team, coaches, and school
officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South
Carolina Class AAA boys wrestling state championship.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the West-Oak High School boys wrestling
team, Coach Derek Strobel, and Principal Dr. Brandon Blackwell.
