RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Alexander Johnson and to commend
him for his distinguished service to the Joshua Baptist Church, the Sumter
community, and the State.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Alexander Johnson for his
continued service to the Sumter community and the State of South Carolina; and
W
hereas, a native of Sumter,
Mr. Johnson was born to parents James E. and Eva Mae Johnson. He is a 1981
graduate of Hillcrest High School and an alumnus of Ashwood University, where
he received an associate's degree in business management in 2005; and
W
hereas, a veteran of
the United States Army, Mr. Johnson served for eleven years active duty and six
years with the Army Reserves; and
W
hereas, a civic
leader, Mr. Johnson has served with many community organizations, including as a
Silver Lifetime Member of the NAACP and a member of the Morris College Board of
Trustees; and
W
hereas, a devout
Christian, he is a member of Joshua Baptist Church, where he serves as chairman
of the Transportation Ministry and an advisor to the Junior Brotherhood and
Youth Choir. Mr. Johnson previously served as the president of the Joshua
Missionary Baptist Church Brotherhood and as president and property manager of
the Sumter Baptist Missionary and Educational Association Brotherhood; and

hereas, Mr. Johnson is
married to Cynthia Patricia Vaughn Johnson, and together, they have one son,
Keyshawn Vaughn; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that
Mr. Johnson has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.
Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:

hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
recognize and honor Alexander Johnson and commend him for his distinguished
service to the Joshua Baptist Church, the Sumter community, and the State.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alexander Johnson.
