RESOLUTION
TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE CURTIS M. SINGLETON FOR
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN
THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS HONORABLE MILITARY SERVICE, AND FOR HIS
CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SAFETY, ADVOCACY, COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP, AND
MENTORSHIP.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize individuals who have
demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the safety, well-being, and
advancement of the citizens of this State; and
W
hereas, Curtis M.
Singleton faithfully served for over twenty-five years in law enforcement,
demonstrating unwavering dedication, leadership, integrity, and service to the
citizens of South Carolina; and
W
hereas, throughout his
distinguished law enforcement career, Curtis M. Singleton rose through the
ranks to serve with distinction as chief of police, where he led with
professionalism, accountability, and courage, mentored and trained hundreds of
law enforcement personnel, and left a lasting impact on public safety and
professional development; and
W
hereas, he was
presented with a Lifesaving Award on May 4, 2017, by the Forest Acres Optimist
Club, in recognition of his heroic actions in responding to a medical emergency
in December 2016, preserving life, placing the safety of others above his own,
and demonstrating extraordinary bravery and dedication to duty; and
W
hereas, a proud combat
veteran, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army
and the South Carolina Army National Guard, including service in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom, demonstrating courage, discipline, and selfless
service; and
W
hereas, during his
military service, he earned numerous honors and awards, including the Army
Achievement Medal, the South Carolina Governor's Unit Citation, the National
Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with
Mobilization Device, and the Army Service Ribbon; and
W
hereas, he has further
distinguished himself through civic and community leadership, serving as a Central
Midlands Council of Governments board member, a Columbia Area Mental Health board
member, Voter Registration, Elections, and Mobilization Chairman for Omega Psi
Phi Fraternity Inc., and Subcommittee Scholarship Chairman for 100 Black Men of
Greater Columbia; and
W
hereas, he has also
contributed to leadership development and community enrichment through
authorship, including his work,

which reflects his dedication to inspiration, mentorship, purpose, and positive
impact; and
W
hereas, he is devoted
to his family as the loving husband of Brittany S. Singleton and the proud
father of two children, Jackson and Olivia, whose support has been integral to
his years of service; and
W
hereas, beyond his law
enforcement and military service, Curtis Singleton remains committed to
advocating for vulnerable populations, promoting dignity, fairness, and
accountability, and continuing to inspire others through mentorship and civic
engagement. His commitment to serving the community is a lasting example of admirable
leadership, sacrifice, and dedication. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
honor and recognize Curtis M. Singleton for twenty-five years of dedicated and
distinguished service to law enforcement in the state of South Carolina, his
honorable military service, and his continued commitment to public safety,
advocacy, community leadership, and mentorship.

that a copy of this resolution be presented to Curtis M. Singleton.
