TO CONGRATULATE THE Calhoun Academy BOYS Baseball
TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM
FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA InDependent School ASsociation CLASS AAA BOYS Baseball
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

W
hereas, the South
Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Calhoun Academy boys baseball team
for winning the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA boys baseball
state championship on May 12, 2026, in Kingstree; and

W
hereas, this historic
win marks the program's first state championship in school history after
finishing as state runners-up in two of the previous three years; and

W
hereas, in the
championship series against Williamsburg Academy, the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers
won game one at home in dominant fashion by a score of 10-2. They travelled to Kingstree
the next night and pulled through with a 6-4 extra inning win for the state
championship; and

W
hereas, with an
exceptional season overall, the team finished with a 27-1 record, outscoring
their opponents for the season by a score of 263-60; and

W
hereas, the team was
anchored by senior leaders Will Strock, Austin Summers, and Crews Felder, who
were instrumental in fostering the team's toughness and commitment to one
another; and

W
hereas, the Calhoun
Academy boys baseball team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of the
team's coaches, Todd Layton, Tom Culclasure, Todd Larrimer, and Joe Strickland;
and

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Calhoun
Academy boys baseball team has brought to its school and community and look
forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its
talented athletes. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
congratulate the Calhoun Academy boys baseball team, coaches, and school
officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South
Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA boys baseball state championship.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Calhoun Academy boys baseball
team; their coach, Todd Layton; and head of school, Virgina S. Haigler.
