RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE Chief Paul "Lin" Shirer UPON THE
OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF
DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS
AHEAD.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Chief Shirer upon the
occasion of his retirement from the Town of North Police Department on May 22,
2026; and
W
hereas, a life-long
resident of Calhoun County, Chief Shirer is a 1992 graduate of Calhoun Academy
and a 1995 graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy; and
W
hereas, Chief Shirer
began his career in law enforcement with the Calhoun County Sheriff's
Department and joined the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department in 2000, the
Lexington County Sheriff's Department in 2004, the Elloree Police Department in
2006, and became Chief of Police for the Town of North in 2016. He was involved
in numerous high-level narcotics investigations and participated in multiple
federal arrests of drug traffickers; and
W
hereas, Chief Shirer is
married to his wife Christy, and together, they have one daughter, Cailin. He
enjoys fishing, coaching Cailin's softball team, and rooting for the Clemson
Tigers; and
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Chief
Shirer has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now,
therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate
:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
congratulate Chief Paul "Lin" Shirer upon the occasion of his retirement,
commend him for his thirty-four years of dedicated service, and wish him much
happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Paul "Lin" Shirer.
