RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE TAYLORS LIONS CLUB UPON THE
OCCASION OF ITS SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXPRESS THE UTMOST GRATITUDE
FOR ITS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY
AND BEYOND.

W
hereas, it is a very
great pleasure to salute the Taylors Lions Club, which has provided
seventy-five continuous years of service in enhancing quality of life for the
citizens of Greenville County and beyond; and

W
hereas, the Taylors
club is a member of Lions Clubs International and South Carolina Lions. Lions
Clubs International (LCI), founded in 1917 by Chicago business leader Melvin
Jones, is dedicated to making the world a better place. The largest service organization
in the world, LCI has become the world leader in blindness prevention and works
extensively in members' local communities to aid those in need through offering
vision-assistance programs, helping the disabled, feeding the hungry, providing
disaster relief, and much more; and

W
hereas, sponsored by
the Greer Lions Club and chartered on October 24, 1950, the Taylors Lions Club
was imbued with a mission to empower volunteers to serve their communities,
meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding
through Lions clubs; and

W
hereas, for
seventy-five years, the Taylors Lions Club has served as a cornerstone of its
community, adapting and growing to meet the evolving needs of its residents and
consistently demonstrating a profound commitment to living out its motto, We
Serve; and

W
hereas, the Taylors
Lions Club's legacy includes countless contributions. The club has conducted
eye screenings and paid for eye exams and eyeglasses continuously throughout
the year, as needed by individuals in the community. For over three years, club
members and friends renovated the Lion Jerry Hatley Clubhouse on Main Street,
which was in disrepair for years. Due to the Lions' work, assisted by in-kind
donations of supplies and labor, this clubhouse is a permanent venue for the
Lions' activities and service; and

W
hereas, further, the
club coordinated a three-state (South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia)
relief effort for New York victims of 2012's Hurricane Sandy. Three semitrailer
trucks were loaded with supplies from personal donations, along with items purchased
through monetary contributions from businesses. In addition, the club donated
$3,600 to the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind in Spartanburg
to assist in building a playground for the students; and

W
hereas, moreover, in
honor and memory of several Lions, the club bought two personal bricks at $500
and also donated $500 to adopt a puppy to be trained at the Leader Dog for the
Blind facility in Rochester, Michigan; and

W
hereas, by means of
their vision and hard work throughout the club's history, the members of the
Taylors Lions Club have positively impacted the lives of thousands of
individuals and made the community a better place to live; and

W
hereas, grateful for
the committed service and outstanding contributions of the Taylors Lions Club,
most particularly in Greenville County, the people of South Carolina extend
best wishes to the club in all its future endeavors as its members continue to
serve. Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
