A SEnate RESOLUTION

to recognize and commend S. Isaiah "ike"
Holman, deacon of Mount Zion Church, and to express deep appreciation to him
for his years of faithful service to his church.

W
hereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to honor dedicated
churchmen, like Deacon Ike Holman, for faithfulness to their God in all areas
of life; and

W
hereas, the son of the late Bina Brown Holman, he attended the
public schools of Calhoun County, graduating from John Ford High in 1960, and after
graduation, he moved to Far Rockaway, New York, where he worked for Clean and
Brite Cleaning Service; and

W
hereas, Deacon Holman served with distinction in the United States
Army and later in the National Guard, and he retired after twenty-two years of
military service. He served Albemarle Chemical Company in Orangeburg, retiring
after twenty-seven years; and

W
hereas, he has been devoted to making his home, church, and
community the best that they can be, and as a faithful member of the Mt. Zion
Baptist Church in Fort Motte, he continues to serve as a deacon, a board member
of Calhoun County Resources Inc. and a life member of the Calhoun County NAACP
Branch #5499. He has served on numerous other boards and commissions through
the years; and

W
hereas, Deacon Holman, a quiet and gentle man, has worked with many political
campaigns and assisted elected officials to attain various offices and
positions. Dedicated to his community, he was very instrumental in the efforts
to get clean water to the Fort Motte area and the repurposing of John Ford
School into a community center; and

W
hereas, he and his beloved wife, Octavia Johnson Holman, reared
three wonderful daughters, who have blessed him with the devotion of seven grandchildren;
and

W
hereas, with thankfulness, friends and family join in honoring Ike
Holman, deacon of Mount Zion Church, for his years of service to his home, his
church, and his community. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the Senate:

T
hat the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize
and commend S. Isaiah "Ike" Holman, deacon of Mount Zion Church, and express
deep appreciation to him for his years of faithful service to his church.

B
e it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Deacon S. Isaiah "Ike" Holman.
