A concurrent RESOLUTION
To recognize and honor the Pinewood Preparatory
School Football team, coaches, and school officials for a truly remarkable
season and to congratulate them on winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent
School Association 3A STATE Championship.
W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that on November 22,
2025, at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, the Pinewood Prep football team
captured their second consecutive state championship; and
W
hereas, to the delight
of their passionate fans, the Pinewood Prep Panthers defeated the Wilson Hall
Barons by an impressive 42 points, finishing the game 55-13; and
W
hereas, the Panthers
were determined to defend their state title. Despite starting the year with
many new faces, the team and staff worked hard leading up to this championship
game to develop a cohesive, well-rounded team that had an impressive season record
of 10-3; and
W
hereas, they started
the game strong, scoring early, building momentum and confidence. They ended the
first half with a score of 42-7, allowing the team to easily take control
throughout the second half, dominating the Wilson Hall Barons and winning the
state title for a second year in a row; and
W
hereas, junior quarterback
Silas Brawner, who was new to the team this year, made a big impact offensively
in the championship game. He tossed five touchdown passes and totaled 331 yards.
Other impressive Panther performances included junior wide receiver Lavoris
Lucas, who caught three touchdown passes and had 143 yards on eight catches;
senior wide receiver Jayden Alexander, who had five receptions for 148 yards and
scored twice; junior wide receiver Tre Green, who caught a touchdown pass;
senior quarterback Will Watson, who rushed for a score and threw for a touchdown;
and junior running back Grayson Salego, who had a rushing touchdown in the
fourth quarter; and
W
hereas, in a sport that
requires mental and physical strength, Head Coach DeVonte Holloman and his
talented staff utilized their own experience and passion for the sport to craft
a championship-caliber team. The lessons they have taught these young athletes
will prove invaluable throughout their lives on and off the field; and
W
hereas, the members of
South Carolina General Assembly value the pride and recognition that the
Pinewood Prep football team has brought to their school and community. They
look forward to following the Panthers and celebrating their future
achievements. Now, therefore,
B
e it resolved by the
Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the
Pinewood Preparatory School football team, coaches, and school officials for a
truly remarkable season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 South
Carolina Independent School Association 3A State Championship.
